“Phenix City OL signs with Alabama Football 2025 recruiting class.”

Alabama football has officially secured an all-state offensive lineman from Phenix City.

Central High School’s Mal Waldrep signed with the Crimson Tide on the first day of the early signing period.

The three-star prospect is listed at 6-5, 320 pounds, according to the 247Sports Composite. As a recruit, Waldrep is ranked No. 20 in the state as well as the No. 37 offensive tackle and No. 483 overall in the country.

Alabama offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic is listed as his top recruiter. Waldrep preferred Kapilovic and the Crimson Tide over schools like Clemson, Auburn and Colorado, all of which had offers. In total, 247Sports listed 23 offers for him.

Waldrep is one of several players in Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class. He joins the likes of Michael Carroll (IMG Academy in Florida), Jackson Lloyd (Carmel High School in California) and Micah DeBose (Theodore High School). Waldrep and DeBose are Alabama’s two recruits for this cycle.

The 2025 group marks the first recruiting class for DeBoer after he succeeded Nick Saban in January. DeBoer and the Crimson Tide are fresh off a 9-3 regular season and will learn their postseason fate on Sunday.
