Phillies want to target a superstar player worth $427 million in a landmark trade

Mike Trout has been the Phillies’ perennial white whale in far-fetched trade talks. The Millville, New Jersey, native often attends Philadelphia Eagles games in midnight green, and the Phillies have long needed better outfield production.

Trout, now 32, still has a chance to become a future Hall of Famer. There is no room here for all the statistics that point to this. But in the present, all that matters is how healthy he will be over the next six years and which team will try their luck at keeping him healthy.
