Slenes joins Cincinnati Reds Shortstop Elly de la Cruz and Baltimore Orioles on the cover. This is the first time since 2013 that one of these teams made the cover in the USA when Pirates star Andrew McCutchen decorated the cut cut in black and gold. The former pirate Jung-Ho Kang also made the cover for the release of the game in South Korea in 2016.

Earlier access for MLB: Show 25 will open on March 14th. The full game will be published on March 18, just two weeks before the opening day of the pirate on April 4 against the New York Yankees.
