The Main Street New Jersey Award provides communities with access to technical assistance and specialized training to manage and revitalize their downtowns. It also allows them to apply for grants to support physical improvements, operational needs and strategic development. The program emphasizes a preservation-oriented approach to revitalizing the downtown area and focuses on increasing investment, strengthening community identity, supporting local businesses, creating jobs and preserving historic architecture.

“This achievement represents an important step in our ongoing efforts to breathe new life into downtown Plainfield,” added Mario Camino, chairman of the Plainfield Special Improvement District.
