What a week for the New York Mets! The Mets secured a series win against the Phillies in Queens last night. The victory expanded the METS winning streak to six games, their division leads to four games and now the Mets are 10 games over 0.500!

The METs can make a massive statement today with a series -Weep. The Mets would take over five games against their divisional rival and for the first time this season would score a winning streak. It is a wonderful day in Queens to beat the Phillies again!

The Mets look out of the former, Met, Zack Wheeler. Wheeler has become one of the most constant and effective jugs in baseball since participating in 2020. He made 138 starts with a total of 860 2/3 innings with an ERA of 2.97. This season he recorded 31 1/3 Innings in five games with an ERA of 3.73, 3.15 FIP, 0.989 whip and 108 ERA+. Wheeler had two rough starts in mid -April, in which he allowed nine runs of 15 goals over 11 1/3 innings. In his other three starts, he only approved four runs over 20 inner sings, including his last start, in which he had a season high of 13 strikeouts against the Marlins against the Marlins.

Wheeler kept the mets on two runs and scattered seven goals over seven innings in a regular season last season. He also had a phenomenal start against the meters in the playoffs, where he held the meters for a goal and no runs over seven innings (a game that the meters finally won 6-2). The METS have the following career numbers against Wheeler:

  • Luisangel Acuña 1-3
  • Pete Alonso 10-37, 2 2b, 2 BB, 12 K
  • Brett Baty 3-8, K
  • Francisco Lindor 8-31, 2b, 3b, HR, BB, 6 K

  • Tyrone Taylor 2-9, 3 K
  • Mark Viientos 3-9, 2b, 3 K
  • Jesse Winker 0-11, 4 BB

Game notes

Francisco Alvarez and Jeff McNeil are expected to be activated by the injured list on Friday. McNeil plays today in game 1 of Triple-A Syracuse’s Douleheader Center Field.

The Mets currently have a winning streak in 10s at home, the longest in the team history, says Elias.

The Mets are 11-1 on Citi Field this season and the starting jugs have to give up a Homerun at home.

Three things you should pay attention to

  1. The bullpens. The bullpens were history in this series all week. Both the Mets and the Phillies entered this series tired. In the last two games, the METs went the starter 5 1/3 and 5 innings. Sánchez left yesterday’s game after two innings for the Phillies. Both teams should have a similar schedule today – bring out the starter earlier and hope that they can no longer pose petrol from the opponent’s bullpen.
  2. We can’t stop talking about Francisco. Lindor was on another planet in the last three games and went with three homes, six runs and six RBIs 8-against-13. Lindor .359/.400/.625 has been reducing Lindor since April 7, his first three hit game of the season. He now has a 0.8 Bwar in the season and a 142 ops+. Only phenomenal stuff from Lindor.
  3. The meters received hits with runners in the goal position. We complained about the hits of the METS with runners in the goal position, even during the winnery of the Mets this season. On Tuesday evening, the Mets only had nine goals as a team (three of them from Lindor), but four of their goals were with RISP. They went 4: 9 with RISP, and although they still left 10 runners on the base, they gave them some important insurance runs in good time and saved Mendoza before using Díaz. If the METs can do this again today, you can get in the Bullpen of the Phillies early and take pressure from your own tired pen.

Let’s go, Mets!
