Pluto TV aims to be your one-stop shop for Christmas streaming

It’s the holiday season, so get going and don’t forget to hang up your sock so you have more time to lounge on the couch in front of the TV and watch all your favorite holiday songs. Maybe it’s because I’m no longer of the age where I dye my hands bright purple to make snowballs or risk twisting my hip to sled down a hill, but the holidays are for me turned into watching as many festive movies and TV shows as my eyes can handle and desperately trying not to burn down my house and bake too many cookies. Unfortunately, watching seasonal films can be a little difficult this time of year. Unless a streaming service tries to attract new subscribers with playlists of the best films in their catalogs, many of these classics end up back on video-on-demand (physical media forever), allowing distributors to make additional profits to support their vacation spice up bonuses.

Luckily, there are still free streaming services like Pluto TV that give us accessible programming and we don’t even have to skip cookies the night before. We at /Film have been preaching the good gospel of Pluto TV for some time, but the platform is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and has gone all out to celebrate. These include the special offerings in the Season’s Greetings category, which have absolutely everything you need for binge-watching under the covers or ways to entertain your guests at holiday parties. Whether it’s Christmas classics, Christmas episodes of your favorite TV shows, music videos featuring Christmas music, or even a channel dedicated to streams that include a Yule log in the fireplace, a Hanukkah menorah, and a Kwanzaa Kinara, you don’t have to ruin your bet on happy movie watching.

A guide to Pluto TV’s Season’s Greetings category

Pluto TV’s Season’s Greetings section is like a giant, festive umbrella that houses all of the individual channels under it. If you’re not familiar with Pluto TV, they offer their entire library on-demand, but also have dedicated channels that you can just turn on and start watching. Channels are categorized by a specific title or genre (I personally watched the horror channels and watched the complete reboot of the series “Degrassi: The Next Generation”.), so here’s a breakdown of all the holiday channels:

  • Pluto TV Christmas: This is the flagship channel. Here you will find family-friendly holiday films and specials.
  • Crackling Fireplace: If you need a Christmas log or the comfort of a crackling fireplace but don’t have your own, this is the channel for you. Enjoy this feeling any time of the day this holiday season. Featuring a Hanukkah Menorah from December 25th to 31st and a Kwanzaa Kinara from December 26th to 31st.
  • Festive fireplace: Always all fireplaces!
  • Hallmark Movies and Other Holiday Favorites: Invite your mom because this channel has all the Hallmark Christmas specials and movies you can stomach. This channel is also offered as Hallmark in Spanish.
  • Stingray Holidayscapes: This channel is great for background visualizations during holiday parties as it alternates between festive garden displays, beautifully decorated homes, and other holiday landscapes to get you in the holiday spirit.
  • Lifetime’s Holiday Movie Favorites: Similar to the Hallmark Channel, but dedicated to films produced by Lifetime.
  • A Home for the Holidays: This is your guide to the marathon of holiday cooking show episodes. You might even find a recipe or two to try with your family. Or, if you’re like me, you audibly say, “Damn, I should do that,” and then never actually do it.
  • Vevo Holiday: An endless playlist of Christmas music videos!
  • Cine navideño: Think of it like the Christmas channel Pluto TV, but in Spanish.
  • Places and Spaces: I’ll let Pluto himself describe this. “There is no place like home, and no channel encompasses the inside, outside and everything in between more. We are the heart of the home.”

Pluto TV has also launched a channel for classic episodes of The Twilight Zone, giving us all a chance to recreate the old marathons that ran on the Sci-Fi Channel (now Syfy) years ago. Pluto TV is available as an app on all smart TVs and mobile devices or via internet browsers at pluto.tv.
