Pluto TV Tops the Charts as Canada’s #1 Free Streaming Service • iPhone in Canada Blog

Free ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV is celebrating its second anniversary in Canada this month with impressive growth. The service is a subsidiary of media giant Paramount.

The platform now has 243 channels (twice the launch offering) and more than 50,000 hours of free live and on-demand content, including movies, shows, news and music.

According to data from Media Technology Monitor as of December 3, 2024, Pluto TV is now Canada’s most popular free ad-supported streaming TV service (FAST).

“Canadians clearly and consistently connect with Pluto TV’s diverse content offering,” said Katrina Kowalski, SVP Content Strategy & Acquisitions, Pluto TV International, in a statement.

Pluto TV’s popularity is growing rapidly: Canadians stream 1.7 billion minutes of television per month, up 40% from last year. The service particularly appeals to younger viewers, as viewers ages 18 to 49 now make up more than half of Pluto TV’s audience.

Pluto TV continues to expand its offerings with new partnerships and holiday specials such as:

• CBC Local News Channels: New channels CBC News Toronto, CBC News BC and Radio-Canada INFO bring local and breaking Canadian news.
• NBCUniversal Shows: New classics include Will & Grace, The A-Team, Becker and Quantum Leap.

Here are Pluto TV’s Christmas specials:

• In the “Christmas Greetings” category you will find Christmas films such as “Christmas at Dollywood” and “Love in Winterland”.
• The Pluto TV Advent Calendar reveals a new Christmas film every night until December 25th.
• The Pluto TV Kids Movie Club runs from December 23rd to January 5th and features kid-friendly movies all day long.
• MTV on tour! Channel: Taylor Swift’s music videos from all her eras will be streaming until January 3rd.
