Popular New Saproling Legend Drives 823% Price Increase at Unique Badger

MTG Foundations Jumpstart cards may not be legal by default, but the good news is that there are a lot of great Commander Legends to build on. Cards like Rev, Tithe Extractor, and Shroofus Sproutsire have quickly become quite popular options.

These unique creatures have also helped some underrated EDH cards rise in price. For example, Shroofus Sproutsire has encouraged players to craft Saproling decks to give the cards that produce Saprolings more time to shine. The Brightcap Badger variety, for example, has seen a sharp increase in spice in recent weeks.

The card in question is none other than Brightcap Badger. Brightcap Badger is a powerful card for any deck that contains a lot of Saprolings and Fungus creatures. Typically, you’ll initially want to spend three mana to make two Saprolings using the adventure portion of the card. From then on, when you play Brightcap Badger, you immediately have two 1/1s tapping for mana.

Obviously, the Brightcap Badger can really get out of hand if you already have a lot of Saprolings and Mushrooms on the battlefield. Creatures like Mycoloth do an excellent job of providing energy to Brightcap Badger. Perhaps no card is better suited to maximizing the Bloomburrow Commander card than the new Shroofus Sproutsire.

As long as you can clear the way for your Saprolings to connect in battle, your board will grow exponentially. This gives you access to a boatload of mana to work with thanks to Brightcap Badger, which you can spend on any giant haymaker you choose.

The Spike

Before Shroofus Sproutsire was printed, Brightcap Badger was nothing more than a major rarity. On November 4th, this card was mostly selling for little more than 40 cents.

Shortly after the set’s release, Shroofus Sproutsire quickly became one of the most popular commanders in Foundations Jumpstart. As Prid3MTG points out, players then flocked to get their hands on Brightcap Badger, which only has one print.

With limited supply and soaring demand, it makes sense why Brightcap Badger has been steadily rising over the past two weeks. The current price is $3.69, and there have been numerous sales near this number over the past few days.

To put this into perspective, this is an 823% increase in price since November 4th. The price increase of the card seems to be slowing down a bit. Nonetheless, if you decided to bet on Brightcap Badger early on, you are sure to be rewarded.
