Populous’ Design for 80 million US dollars in New York Liberty Training Facility offers a different view of the “changing room”.

It has been a while since the changing rooms of the sports facilities actually contained metal lockers, but freedom goes one step further to banish the expression “changing room” with the recently presented design of its proposed 80 million dollar training in Greenpoint in Brooklyn.

The setting in the team’s changing room and the architectural centers in an open player lounge, which is surrounded by more than a dozen private player suites, each of which has their own door in front of the main room. The player suites (their dimensions have not yet been completed) contain a seven foot for nap or relaxation, a desk on which zoom can be carried out with agents or potential brand partners, and the washbasin for skin and hair care routines before and after practice. A specific request from Liberty players in particular was a specific request for shoes.

“From the point of view of recovery and the point of view of privacy, it made so much sense for our players,” said Liberty GM Jonathan Kolb. “Then we assumed why we do not make this common place there to the Player Lounge so that they interact and get team loyalty, but also exhaustion.”

In contrast to the traditional changing room, in which the players circle coaches for big speeches, this room is really intended for Liberty players, where they can connect, but also have a private space from each other to recover mentally or physically or only with a loved one. As Kolb emphasized, the players are quite a bit together. And the team has a separate room to see film as a group or for meetings with the coaching team, not to mention two practice courts, where the coaches and players obviously gather.

“If we try to make our space efficient, this should be a sanctuary for our players and nobody else should occur than the players,” said Kolb. “Then the imagination can wonder whether we are with this room to make it different from somewhere else?”

This concept of a team room requires a certain faith of those who guide freedom. What if the players all step back in their private rooms and close the doors?

“This is something we consider,” said Kolb. “Let’s take a look at this from all perspectives: the largest, as you can see from the renderings, there is a lot of lounge room. I don’t think this will give a situation in which everyone is closed all the time. If that happens, we probably have to repair something else.”

The Liberty has no groundbreaking date yet, but the facility is to be opened in 2027. Popular, which also designed training facilities for the Thorns and the Portland WNBA expansion team and for the fever, suggested the redesigned changing room concept. Since more venues and institutions have been developed and built, especially for women -Pro sports teams, unique aspects are created, such as the Liberty, which has not yet been mentioned, in which the role of the changing rooms are run in the past.

“It is exciting that something is created that you have to think about how it should be called,” said Kolb.

Populous’ Design for the 80 million dollar training of New York Liberty in Brooklyn includes a new agreement with the “changing room”, which prioritize the privacy of the player and the physical and mental recovery by providing each player their own “loose suite” within the larger player of the player Player Lounge.
