Predicting the last four games of the Houston Texans season

The Houston Texans had to wait until Week 14 for their bye, but that could prove to be a blessing. They were able to take a week to rest their ailing players and try to fix their second-half scoring problems before playing their final four games.

With a record of 8-5, they could close the division as early as this Sunday, but they need help from the Indianapolis Colts to do so. If they want to secure relegation without support, they only need two wins.

Let’s take a look at these four games and predict how the Texans will finish their 2024 season.

This hasn’t been the season the Miami Dolphins were hoping for, but they proved in Week 14 that they still have some fighting potential. Their overtime win against the New York Jets kept them in the playoff hunt, meaning they still have a long way to go in Week 15. Houston also performs and they get the nod since they are at home.

Final score: Texans 31, Dolphins 27
Record: 9-5

The Chiefs continue to be the gold standard in the NFL and this game will be hugely important for the Texans. They want to prove themselves against the Super Bowl champions, and a narrow win over Miami last week will give them confidence.

Unfortunately, that won’t be enough. Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson, Jr. will cause problems for Patrick Mahomes, but he can’t be stopped forever. On the other side of the ball, Kansas City’s stingy run defense will make Houston one-dimensional, which is a recipe for disaster on this line.

Houston keeps this game close, but the Chiefs are too much for them.

Final score: Chiefs 28, Texans 26
Record: 9-6

Baltimore was also missing in Week 14 and will look to secure a playoff spot in its final four games. They are also still in contention for the division title, so there will be a lot at stake. It will be another crucial game for the Texans – and it won’t be easy. They will face reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and a former division rival, Derrick Henry. That proves to be too much as the Ravens win by less than a touchdown.

Final score: Ravens 31, Texans 27
Record: 9-7

Tennessee handed the Texans a loss in Week 12, which was a shock. Even with two losses in the first three games of this prediction, Houston could still close out the division this weekend – all they need is a loss to Indy. Still, the Titans were terrible on Sunday and the Texans will want revenge. This results in an easy win for the road team and a 10-7 score.

Final score: Texans 23, Titans 10
Record: 10-7
