RELATED: Couch: The MSU’s road to Sweet 16 in Atlanta began in Atlanta – where the Spartans learned that they were “good enough”

• MSU update: The Spartans enter the regional semi-finals after two hard-fought NCAA tournament victories against Bryant and then New Mexico. In no game MSU had control until the second half. This is MSUS 16. Sweet 16 under Tom Izzo. Only Duke has more sweet 16 appearances since Izzo made his first 27 years ago. The last sweet 16 of the MSU was in New York two years ago, where the Spartans had lost in extra time against the state of Kansa. The MSU is nationally on defensive efficiency, according to Kenpom and No. 1, which defends the 3-point line, so that the opponents can only shoot 27.8% from the long distance and No. 8 in the defensive back-up percentage. The Bugaboo The Spartan is inconsistency with outer shots and only makes 31% of their own 3-point attempts, which is National 323.

• Ole Miss Update: The rebels arrive in Sweet 16 after impressive victories against North Carolina and No. 3-Seed Iowa State. This season they also have victories in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, BYU and Arkansas (twice) – all teams who still lived in the NCAA tournament. This is Ole Miss’s first NCAA tournament since 2019 and his first Sweet 16 since 2001 when it comes to the rebels in a NCAA tournament. Like MSU, Ole Miss has a balanced line -up, even if not so deep. All five starters on average in double -digit numbers, four of them at around 10 points per game.

• Matchup analysis: The rebels present the MSU with a few challenges, the way they all change defensively, how their guards let up to help their big ones, just as they return to the offensive rebound for the transition, get the ability of their 5-man, Malik dia, back on the way and also achieve 3-point goal. The Spartans should have a decent edge on the glass. Ole Miss ranks in an offensive back -up in the 300 and is not much better at the defensive end. The MSU is probably the most interesting for MSU. Is that the order of Carson Cooper? Jaxon Kohler can defend him because Kohler’s offense could be a problem for slide at the other end. Can the Spartans be a center of Ole Miss’ Untergernsn -mann -mann, Dre Davis, play and play two bigs or even try Coen Carr on DIA? Sean Pedulla Sean Pedulla from rebels is a fantastic player and a dangerous shooter. But MSU has faced guards like him and is fine. The other big question is whether the MSU can create enough insult if it is in half the place against a defense in which you have to dismantle the boys individually, and whether the Spartans are able to get out and run what life would make much easier. These are two teams based on toughness and connection, two teams that do not differ from their identity. It is difficult to forecast.

• Prediction: I think the A-game from MSU would often defeat as an ole miss’ a-game. But last weekend the rebels played closer to this level than MSU. When Jase Richardson plays like Jase Richardson, whom we have seen regularly since the beginning of February and make the Spartans at least one of their other guards to put down some outer shots, I like to find out and continue the chances of the MSU.

• Do it: MSU 70, Ole Miss 66
