Questionable midfield as Padres’ Brandon Lockridge with injuries-san Diego Union-Tribune

The Padres lost a midfielder against a knee tendon load this week. They hope that they have not lost anyone else.

Brandon Lockridge left the 6-0 victory on Sunday after trying to hit a double game in the seventh inning. The Padres described the injury as a low -grade thigh tribe after an ultrasound resulted in inflammation but no serious muscle damage, Lockridge said, a best scenario under the circumstances.

“Which is obviously very good,” said Lockridge when he stood in front of his locker with his left leg. “Numbers to be daily and see what it feels like tomorrow when some adrenaline and a night of sleep come by.”

After Lockridge made the team as a fourth outfielder, he played in midfield every day since Jackson Merrill went on the 10-day injury list with a right thigh load on Tuesday. The Speedy Lockridge started the season strongly, but went 1-4 on Sunday with a colorful single and scored 13 games.

He said that he had incidents with both knee seams at regular intervals throughout his career, so he immediately knew what to do when he signaled the training staff while he was under the shelter.

“When I got in touch with the base, I felt like a kind of sharp shooting in my hip,” said Lockridge. “I have already checked it out by the doctor and don’t seem to be serious. … I know that if I could stay out there, if I could stay out there, but I know that in the past it has to destroy it again if I would blow it up again, it probably makes it much worse.”

If Merrill already runs out and does not yet swing a racket or does something explosive, the Padres in the position cannot afford much worse.

The Padres called Oscar Gonzalez when Jackson Merrill (Hamstring) hit the injured list earlier this week. The prospect that another midfielder lacks the time could look for a capable body if you don’t decide to simply push Fernando Tatis Jr. in the middle.

The 35-year-old Jason Heyward has started in midfield in the Majors in 16 years, but he has only played seven inning there since the beginning of 2024.
