Raj & Simran forever! Iconic DDLJ Pose receives a bronze statue in London

Lights, camera, ‘ddlj’! Get ready to experience one of the most unforgettable love stories of Indian cinema again – this time in bronze. In a moment that is directly out of a fairy tale, a statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is frozen forever in their legendary pose from ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayge’ (DDLJ), the London Leicester Square at the Grace Londons Leicester -Square.

The beloved duo of Bollywood’s ultimate romantic classic will soon be shoulder with people like Harry Potter and Laurel & Hardy.

This is not just a premiere for ‘DDLJ’ – it is a premiere for the Indian cinema. The statue will be part of the London “Scenes in the Square” Prasse, a tribute to iconic film moments from all over the world.

The announcement was made by The Heart of London Business Alliance, which confirmed that the statue will be unveiled this spring – to be determined in order to lead to the 30th anniversary of the film in October 2025.

But why ‘ddlj’ and why Leicester Square? Let us rewind a little. ‘In 1995, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (or’ Ddlj ‘, as it is lovingly known), was not just a cashier-a cultural revolution was. The film was staged by a young Aditya Chopra and produced under the legendary Yash Raj Films Banner. The film followed the story of Raj and Simran, two young NRIS, who find love while finding backpacking all over Europe. And do you guess where your paths have crossed for the first time?

You understood it – the Leicester Square, right in the heart of London.

It is exactly this moment -Raj’s playful charm meeting meeting with Simran’s calmer grace -that the new statue will be grasped. It is placed directly outside the Odeon cinema along the eastern terrace to offer fans a perfect photo with their favorite couple of screen.

Other well -known London locations from the film are Tower Bridge, Hyde Park and King’s Cross Station, but it is the Leicester Square that holds the crown.

Mark Williams, deputy managing director of The Heart of London Business Alliance, described the addition of SRK and Kajol as a “fantastic” opportunity. “Ddlj is not just a film – it’s a legacy,” he said. “The statue is a tribute to Bollywood’s global reach and the incredible cultural wall carpet that makes London what it is.”

Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, repeated the feeling. “This statue is more than an allusion to the past – it is a celebration of everything that ‘ddlj’ is: love, dreams and the timeless power of cinema,” he said. “To be recognized with global icons in a city like London – it is beyond special.”

Regardless of whether you are a die-hard Bollywood fan or someone who simply believes in the magic of love stories, you should drop by the Leicester Square this spring. Grab a selfie, experience the nostalgia and say it again with us: “Bathing bathing Deshon my aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti Rehti Hain, Senorita.”
