Former Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss announced Sunday that he was dealing with a medical issue and asked fans to pray for him and his family.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer announced the news Sunday in two Instagram posts from the set of ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown,” urging men to get regular medical checkups.

“Throughout the holiday week, your boy was struggling with something internal,” Moss said in the Instagram video. “And I ask all prayer warriors to extend their blessing hands to me and my family during these difficult times. … I’m fighting something, man, and it’s something internal.

“Your boy will make it. I have a great team of doctors and a great family around me. You guys, man, you’re going to do your checkups and get your blood work done and we’re going to work through this, okay? Thank you for the prayers.”

Moss did not disclose what specific medical issue he is dealing with. He repeated the same message from his social media post during the introduction to the ESPN broadcast.

“I posted a post on Instagram maybe a few minutes ago to tell people that you talked about my eyes last week and I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family are with something struggling internally,” Moss said before putting on a pair of glasses.

Speculation about Moss’ health first emerged after viewers noticed during previous television appearances that the 47-year-old’s eyes had a yellowish tint.

“If you all see me doing that… it’s not disrespectful because I’m on TV; That’s because I’m fighting something,” Moss said before putting on his glasses.

Moss – who was accepted from Canton in 2018 – led the NFL in scoring touchdowns in five seasons. In his debut year with New England in 2007, he set the NFL record for most touchdowns in a single season (23).

Moss, who played for the Patriots from 2007 to 2010, performed at Tom Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame ceremony in June. During the celebration, the star receiver was moved to tears after receiving a prolonged ovation from the crowd at Gillette Stadium.
