Range Rover Velar and Scorpio use the same part as my 25 year old Ford Ikon

I thought my eyes might be playing tricks on me, so I looked online for deals on the piece.

BHPian Sanidhya mukund recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Over the weekend, I lamented that I only have four years left on my W204 C-Class due to NGT norms in Delhi-NCR. I was feeling really bad, so I decided to make myself feel better by dreaming about what I could replace it with when the time came. I looked at a review of the current Range Rover Velar and was pretty impressed with the way the interiors looked. However, I noticed one thing. What does a 1.15 Crore Rupee Range Rover have in common with my 25 year old Ford Ikon, where even servicing the Range Rover is financially not worth it? A switch!

I realized that the rear seat recline control switch on the Range Rover Velar is the exact same part that used to serve as the rear door power window switch on the Ford Ikon (and some European Fords from the early 2000s).

I thought my eyes might be playing tricks on me, so I looked online for deals on the piece. When I compared this to the replaced Ikon window switch that was lying around, my suspicions were confirmed. Even the part numbers stamped on the switch are exactly the same!

If you’re a Velar owner looking for a replacement, you know what to ask for at the parts store.

What’s even wilder is the fact that the same switch also fits the first generation Mahindra Scorpio!

The Grand Vitara’s sharing switches with the first-generation Swift don’t seem so bad anymore.
