Rapid City businesses are looking forward to Small Business Saturday at Main Street Square

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – The Black Hills rely on small businesses to build community, strengthen the economy and promote diverse shopping options.

This Saturday, November 30th, is Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate local businesses and all they do for the community.

This community is full of locals who bring their passion to their business, which is exactly why South Dakotans are encouraged to shop locally.

“People need to remember that small businesses are the fabric of our communities, and I think that’s primarily to shop the small businesses that we drive past on the way to the larger stores. The small businesses are taking the risk,” said Bob Weyrich of the Small Business Development Center.

Shopping small allows you to get in touch with sellers and know what you’re buying.

By supporting your local businesses, your money goes directly back into the community.

“We don’t expect you to do all your shopping downtown, but doing just a few purchases downtown makes a big difference in our local economy. That means it provides our city with tax revenue to fix things, fix things and make our city shine,” said Somer Kingsbury, the owner of Who’s Toy House.

There are many unique businesses in the area and business owners know the importance of starting small in Rapid City.

“When I started my own business here, there were a lot of ups and downs, you know, it takes time for a lot of these things to get going, but we’ve built an incredible following, our customer base is incredibly loyal. I can’t say enough about our customers,” said Nathan Harding, owner of Heroes and Villains and Rushmore Coin.

All small businesses in our Rapid City community are excited to welcome community members in honor of Small Business Saturday.

The event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Rapid City.
