Rashod Bateman’s injury is: ‘Not a long-term thing’

Head coach John Harbaugh provided an update Monday about injuries to several Ravens, including starting wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who limped off the field Sunday with a sore knee and did not return.

“He was treated today; this is not a long-term thing,” Harbaugh said. “A lot of guys have that kind of thing late in the season. I think the bye week will really help a lot.”

Nickel cornerback Arthur Maulet (calf/knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, meaning the earliest he could return is the regular-season finale against the Cleveland Browns. Harbaugh said it is uncertain whether Maulet will play again this season.

“I think there is hope, that remains to be seen,” Harbaugh said. “It’s one of those things that are up in the air.”

Rookie safety Sanoussi Kane, who has played a key role on special teams, left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.

“It’s not a big Achilles tendon,” Kane said. “He’ll work through this and we’ll see how he goes in the next game.”

Running back Keaton Mitchell was inactive against the Eagles for the first time since returning from a serious knee injury last year. Rookie running back Rasheen Ali averaged 31.0 yards on two kickoff returns, taking Mitchell’s place in that role. Harbaugh said Mitchell is still working on some physical things.

“No one expected physical challenges, but with what he’s been through, there are definitely physical challenges,” Harbaugh said. “It was a very serious knee injury. He came back from it as quickly as possible.”

“I wanted to give Rasheen a chance too. He worked hard and you saw it on the kickoff return – you saw how explosive he looked on it. It just made sense to give Keaton a little rest and give Rasheen a chance. “I like both of those guys. They will both be there in the future.
