Ratings: Atlético are in 2nd place in LaLiga as Sørloth decides the battle against Getafe

Had an easy day at work as Getafe were unable to challenge the goalkeeper. Passed the ball confidently, even though the opponent was pushing a bit. 5

Llorente

Although the Spaniard was unable to rush forward as he usually does, Llorente was a consistent option as he outflanked and underlapped the runs of Giuliano Simeone. He pulled back to deny the opponent the end line. 5.5

Giménez

Strong as ever, whenever Getafe tried to play a pass through the middle, he quickly pressed for the ball. He made six clearances and five recoveries while committing three fouls in a combative performance. 6.5

Lenglet

Eliminated any loose balls that the defense was able to recover. His five saves, three tackles and two blocked shots were important in nullifying Getafe’s attacks. 7

Galan

Pushed forward to contribute overlapping runs past goal and occasional crosses into the box. His movement swept away defenders and opened paths for other attackers to exploit. In defense, Galán contested a whopping eight duels (he won five) and won 15 of his 18 ground duels. 7.5

Giuliano Simeone

Created half-chances for Samuel Lino in the 13th minute and Rodrigo de Paul in the 30th minute and missed his own header before half-time. Substituted for Ángel Correa to reinforce the attack. 6.5

DePaul

He played several passes into the final third and created some promising opportunities. In the second half, a pass from the midfielder past Nahuel Molina on goal led to Alexander Sørloth’s finish. 6.5

Barrios

He kept most of his passes simple and helped Atlético Madrid keep the ball. When the opportunity arose, Barrios pushed forward to put a shot on net. 5

He had two chances in the first 20 minutes, but both shots went wide. The Brazilian was substituted for Sørloth at half-time. 4.5

Alvarez

David Soria confidently saved his first chance of the half on the edge of the penalty area. Was still an option in the build-up game, but was unable to score a shot on goal for the rest of the game. 5

Griezmann

He hit well-placed crosses both in open play and from the corner flag, but lacked an attacker who could get past Getafe’s stubborn defense. Was substituted for Koke in the second half to stabilize the midfield. 5

Subs:

Sorloth

Scored the winning goal in the 69th minute with a beautiful header into the bottom corner. The forward’s size and physicality were exactly what the team needed to break the stalemate. 7.5

Correa

He gained space forward through his dribbling, but was unable to create a convincing chance to score. He received a yellow card for arguing with the referee. 4.5

Molina

Came on as a substitute for Marcos Llorente in the 56th minute. Assisted Sørloth’s goal with a cross from the right, his first goal contribution since November 3. 7

Koke

After coming on for Antoine Griezmann, the captain tried to retain some control over the increasingly chaotic game. Koke was able to provide some fresh legs and control the tempo, but he picked up a late yellow card for a tackle on Luis Milla. 4.5

Le Normand

The defender replaced Pablo Barrios in the 86th minute. It was nice to see the Frenchman get some minutes after his head injury earlier in the season. N/A
