Report: House GOP to get FCC briefing via Soros/Audacy probe

In November, the chairman of the FCC, Brendan Carr, expressed his wish to “take a very hard view of the new connections from Audacy to billionaire George Soros”. Carr seems to make these plans well, since House’s Republicans are given an update to an FCC examination today.

The Republican Study Committee under the direction of representative August Pfluger (R-TX) will organize Carr after a source familiar with the planning with closed doors. The RSC, the largest caucus within the House GOP, has played a key role in the design of conservative politics and acted as a platform for the Trump administrative officers who are committed to the legislators this year.

According to Fox News, Carr is expected to inform GOP legislators via an FCC probe on Soros and its influence on the local radio. This includes a look at the takeover of more than 40% of Audacy’s senior debts during the insolvency reduction of Chapter 11 by Laurel Tree Opportunity Corporation.

The Republicans of the house said concerns that the approval of the FCC of the Audacy share of Laurel Tree was politically motivated for political reforms due to his connections to the Soros supported by Soros.

At that time, Carr described the approval process as “unprecedented” and claimed that she had avoided the standard procedures. The then chairman Jessica Rosenworkel defended the decision and stated that the same process was pursued in previous media insolvencies, including Cumulus Media, Iheartmedia and Alpha Media.

Audacy is not the only large radio cycling company in which Carr was interested. At the beginning of this week, he initiated an investigation into Iheart’s remuneration practices for artists who appear at their events. He requested detailed information on the upcoming IheartCountry Festival to ensure compliance with the Federal Payola provisions and emphasized the commitment of the FCC for the enforcement of these laws.

A radio station, recently warned by FCC Enforcement Advisory, that artists appear free of charge at events or at a reduced price in exchange for cheap airplay.
