Report: The coordinator of the Broncos Pass game was considered as a candidate for the offensive coordinator for Lions

According to Ian Rapoport, the leading insider of the NFL Network, the leading coordinator from Denver Broncos Pass, John Morton, has developed as a candidate for the position of the offensive coordinator of the Lions offensive.

Broncos trainers and managers were popular in this offseason, and now we can add John Morton to this growing list. Since the former offensive coordinator of Lions, Ben Johnson, which Chicago Bear head coach gets, is looking for head coach Dan Campbell for his replacement. Whoever that is to fill big shoes because Johnson played the Lions offensive all season like a top offensive.

Morton is a 55-year-old coach who is currently the coordinator of the Denver Broncos Pass game under head coach Sean Payton. His coaching career began in 1998 when he became an offensive assistant to the Oakland Raiders. He was with you in the 2004 season when he became your coach of a close end. He spend the next season as a coach of the Passing game/Wide Receivers for the University of San Diego before returning to the NFL in 2006 when the Saints Passing Game Coordinator. He would return to college a year later when the USC player coordinator/Wide Recevers Coach and finally her offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2010 as coaches of the saint from 2015 to 2016, before becoming the offensive coordinator of New York Jets in 2017. A year later he returned to the Raiders as a senior offensive assistant from 2019 to 2021 before he came to Dan Campbell’s employees in 2022 as a senior offensive assistant. He would then take part in Sean Payton’s employees as Broncos Pass Game Coordinator in 2023. Now he seems to be a top candidate for Dan Campbell’s offensive coordinator in 2025.

Morton joins a growing list of Broncos coaches and managers who were popular among other teams during this setting cycle. The defensive coordinator Vance Joseph interviewed the jets and Raiders for their position as head coach, Front Office member David Shaw, who was asked for several head coaches. The assistant GM Darren Mougey was hired as the New York Jets General Manager, Tight Ends Coach Declan Doyle, was hired as an offensive coordinator Bears, and now Morton is a top candidate for Lions offensive coordinator. Sean Payton’s coaching tree already includes Dan Campbell, Joe Lombardi, Aaron Glenn, Joe Brady and Dennis Allen and continues to grow. Quarterback coach, Davis Webb, is expected to receive interest this or next year, while DBS coach Jim Leonhard could also.

I would expect more Broncos trainers to get more looks from other teams because these newly hired coaches put together their coaching teams.
