Residents wake up to find that the parking garage is flooded after a water pipe burst

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Some Nashville neighbors protested along Rev. Dr. early Thursday morning. Enoch Jones Boulevard is dealing with damage from a 16-inch burst water pipe.

It turned the street and The Ludlow car park into pools of water. The breakdown left vehicles underwater, hundreds of families without water and their vacation plans thrown into disarray.

One of the hardest-hit areas was the Ludlow apartment complex, where residents woke up to find their cars submerged.

“It will be a bad day after Christmas for a lot of people,” said one resident after finding his girlfriend’s car underwater. “We started going down the stairs to get my girlfriend’s car but we couldn’t go down the stairs to get to the garage. The elevator in the building didn’t work. I’m assuming the engines are flooded. So we’re just waiting for the HOA to do an assessment.”

An MWS spokesperson said all disruptions were weather-related and caused by temperature fluctuations, soil moisture and ground shifting.

“This is an absolute nightmare. I’ve never seen anything like this before,” explained Jeffrey Crossley, another resident. “It’s definitely a headache.”

About 200 customers in the area are without water as Metro Water Services crews work to repair the damaged line.
