Roger Shelton’s nearly year-long disappearance: What we know now

MINOT, N.D. (KXNET) — A North Dakota family hasn’t seen or heard from one of their loved ones, and it’s the first Christmas they’ve spent without him.

Police are still searching for 62-year-old Roger Shelton of Williston, who was last seen Jan. 5 at the Black-Gold Casino on the Montana-North Dakota border. Investigators said he was on his way home in Williams County that night and has not been seen since.

All of Shelton’s personal items were found at his home, including his dentures, his phone, his car keys and his wallet, which still contained bank cards and cash. Investigators said there was even a hot pot of coffee brewed and the clothes he was wearing the day he disappeared were in the dryer. They also said there were no signs of forced entry and nothing was stolen.

Search crews have searched for Shelton from Williston to Minnesota, scouring the area with cadaver dogs, but say they have found nothing. Investigators are currently waiting for tips from neighbors and witnesses to gather more information about what happened to Roger.

“We still want people, whether they know something, whether they remember something, whether they heard something at the supermarket or at the bar or wherever they heard information, even if they think it’s about something “That we either already know or we don’t. “You think it’s not a big deal, let us know because it could be a big deal or it could be something we don’t know,” said Det. Daniel Ward from the Williams County Sheriff’s Office. “Especially in this day and age, it’s hard to just disappear, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Mr. Roger right now. I can’t imagine how frustrating it is for the family to not have the answers that I think they deserve and would want.”

Shelton is 62 years old, has brown/gray hair and brown eyes. He is 1.75 meters tall, weighs 60 kilograms and has a tattoo on his upper left arm with the outline of a pink panther, with the word “roach” underneath. He frequently visits the casinos on the Montana-North Dakota border and lives near the intersection of Highway 2 and 146th Avenue Northwest on Williston’s west side.

If you have any information about his whereabouts or any information about Shelton that could be important to the investigation, you are asked to call 701-577-7700. You can also submit an anonymous tip by texting the keyword ND-Williams to 847411. There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to Shelton’s whereabouts.
