Ruben Amorim is confident about Amad’s new contract at Manchester United: “We will find a solution”

Ruben Amorim is confident Amad will sign a new contract with Manchester United.

Amad’s current term ends in the summer of 2025, but the club has the option to extend for an additional year.

Discussions are ongoing about new terms, with the 22-year-old saying he wants to stay for a “long time”.

His role in the team has become more important since Ruud van Nistelrooy took temporary charge and Amorim joined. He has provided three assists in two Premier League games under the new head coach.

“I think he wants to stay and we want him to stay, so that’s clear,” Amorim said. “We will find a solution.”

Amad played as a right-back, which Amorim explained.

“Because of his left foot,” he said. “Sometimes it’s because of this position, the way he receives the ball. When you play with your right foot, sometimes you don’t have the space to get inside.

Amad has given Amorim his first selection problem at United – four to two doesn’t work

“But we have (Noussair) Mazraoui and (Diogo) Dalot, for example, who can go inside because they are quick and strong with the ball. But we chose Amad to play one-on-one outside. And that’s very important to break some stresses and especially high stresses, and he has that ability.

“And then you have to be in good physical condition in this position. Good physicality is not the size, but he can run. And that is a key point in this position. So you try to select players who you can put in that position and then the technical characteristics are perfect for him.”

However, Amorim believes Amad can also play in the No. 10 role.

“I think that’s one of the big advantages of Amad for me. He plays very well in this position but also plays between the lines because he has good control and seems to be quicker with the ball than without it.

“So he has what it takes and is able to play in both positions. And he can play in different systems. In the future we may play in a different system. So he’s exactly the type of player we need in the team.”
