Sandra Lee shares video of Malibu fires dangerous near her home

UPDATE – 01/08/25 at 4:13 p.m. ET: Sandra Lee updated her fans that she has moved into a hotel after sharing that the Los Angeles wildfires were coming dangerously close to her home.

“Good morning, thank you for all your good wishes. I’m in a hotel. I don’t have a home anymore,” she said in an emotional Instagram video shared on Wednesday, January 8. “My house is gone. It’s literally gone. I cried all night long. Thank God everyone is safe. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know how to divide this. I don’t know what to do. All my stuff, the last five years of my life.”

Lee noted that she planned to go to work like “every day.” She added tearfully: “I think I’ll rebuild it, I don’t know how.”

“For all your prayers – thank you. I’m trying to process all of this…I’m really grateful that we’re all safe. My house is gone – I cried all night thinking about every room, every nook and cranny. It was perfect and now it’s just Ash,” she captioned her post. “Please keep our community, firefighters and first responders in your prayers. This isn’t over yet – not even close. Love and prayers always – Sandra Lee.”

Sandra Lee is just one household name affected by the current wildfires in Los Angeles.

“My home in Malibu has seen me through some of the darkest moments of my life. I loved creating, beautifying, building, maintaining and protecting it,” Lee, 58, shared in an Instagram caption on Tuesday, January 7. “I enjoyed every moment I spent with it. As the fire approaches, I’m praying for it – I’m praying for everyone in Los Angeles now. What an incredibly frightening moment for my community.”

The celebrity chef continued: “If the fire reaches our front door, please stay in touch with each other. Community is our lifeline in times like these. We are all safe, but the fire is getting closer and closer to my piece of heaven in Malibu.”

Lee told her followers about her long history in Malibu – starting when she worked as a waitress in 1989.

Spencer Pratt’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, announced that her brother and his wife Heidi Montag have lost their Los Angeles home as the Pacific Palisades Fire continues to ravage the Los Angeles area. According to an Instagram post from Stephanie, Montag, 38, and Pratt, 41, lost their property as the fire swept through the star-studded area on (…).

“I dreamed of a house like this (FOR ME) and worked hard for it,” she wrote. “I’m sad but I send all my love to all the first responders and firefighters who are literally giving everything to keep us safe!!! Love and prayers always.”

Along with her hopeful caption, Lee shared three videos as the fires continued to rage. The first image was taken as she began evacuating her home, just meters away.

“Sandra, it’s right here,” a voice can be heard saying in the background of the clip as Lee zooms in on the fire near her. “I got everything I could.”

A second video showed Lee recording some of the damage caused by the fires while driving. As she passes a fire truck going the other direction, black smoke can be seen covering the road. In a third clip, Lee recorded gray smoke rising in the air over a body of water as ash fell from the sky.

The Los Angeles Times reported that an extreme storm caused by Santa Ana gusts sparked wildfires in LA on Tuesday, causing citizens to evacuate for safety. More than 13,000 buildings are “at risk,” the Associated Press also reported Tuesday, noting that the origin of the fire has not yet been confirmed.

Lee isn’t the only star who has shared her experiences with the fires. Eugene Levy spoke to that L.A. Times On Tuesday he announced that he too had been evacuated from his home.

“The smoke over Temescal Canyon looked pretty black and intense,” he said Schitt’s Creek Stern told the newspaper. “I couldn’t see any flames, but the smoke was very dark.”
