An active weather pattern delivers winter storms this weekend, where snow and ice could create dangerous travel conditions at temporarily dangerous travel conditions.

Midwest, great lakes outlook

  • In North -Missouri and Iowa, rain and snow rain in North -Missouri and Iowa will develop before spreading later on Wednesday and overnight over the southern Great Lakes, including Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit. Note that even small amounts of icing can make travel dangerous (pink and purple shaded areas on the map below). It is therefore best to stay off -roads.
  • The best chance of leaving all snow is from Central and North Minnesota in Northern Michigan.

Northeast outlook

  • The P-or MID-Atlantic, including Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, DC, could see dangerous travel conditions due to ice-cold rain and snow rain from Wednesday evening to early Thursday morning before switching to the rain until later on Thursday morning.
  • The Interstate 95 corridor from N EW York City to Boston could start as a snowfall or a wintry mixture in late Wednesday evening or Thursday, but these areas will probably change at some point at a certain time on Thursday.
  • In the interior, a considerable icing is possible in Central Pennsylvania, and the best chance that rainfall will remain snow in the north of Neuengland.

  • It is a bit early to find details, but snow and an ice strip seem to develop on Saturday from the upper middle west and the large lakes to parts of the middle Atlantic and northeast.

  • T His system is a quick start, so that a large part of his snowfall will be over New England on Sunday when the storm flies off
