Several winter storms will deliver snow, ice to medium west, northeast

An active weather pattern delivers winter storms this weekend, where snow and ice could create dangerous travel conditions at temporarily dangerous travel conditions.

S Torm No. 1: Wednesday Thursday

Low pressure drags a moisture snail towards cold high pressure, so that a wintry mess of ice and snow can develop in the middle west, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic and northeast, especially on Wednesday evening.

T its first system was appointed by the Winter Canal Winter Storm Freya.

Midwest, great lakes outlook

• In North -Missouri and Iowa, rain and snow rain in North -Missouri and Iowa will develop before spreading later on Wednesday and overnight over the southern Great Lakes, including Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit. Note that even small amounts of icing can make travel dangerous (pink and purple shaded areas on the map below). It is therefore best to stay off -roads.
• The best chance of leaving all snow is from Central and North Minnesota in Northern Michigan.

Northeast outlook

• The P-or MID-Atlantic, including Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, DC, could see dangerous travel conditions due to ice-cold rain and snow rain from Wednesday evening to early Thursday morning before switching to the rain until later on Thursday morning.
• The Interstate 95 corridor from N EW York City to Boston could start as a snowfall or a wintry mixture in late Wednesday evening or Thursday, but these areas will probably change at some point at a certain time on Thursday.
• In the interior, a considerable icing is possible in Central Pennsylvania, and the best chance that rainfall will remain snow in the north of Neuengland.

S now, ice forecast

• In most areas, no strong snowfalls become predictable from this system, but at least a coating up to a few centimeters is predicted by North Dakota and Central and Northern Minnesota to New York and North New England.
• Every accumulating snow nearby and west of the Interstate 95 from New York to Boston should be easy before switching to a winter mix and rain.

• The icing on the cake from the freezer could be sufficient for at least a short time for dangerous trips on one of the places shaded on the second card below and spread from west to east from west to east from Wednesday evening and Thursday. As already mentioned, even small amounts of ice could create dangerous trips.
• In the central Appalaches, especially in central Pennsylvania, the sums that can break some tree members and cause scattered power outages.

S Torm No. 2: Saturday Sunday

In his second winter storm within a few days, many of the same areas in the middle west and northeast have an impact. Again, the low pressure spreads moisture in the withdrawing cold high pressure, sets the table for both snow and for ice cream.

• It is a bit early to find details, but snow and an ice strip seem to develop on Saturday from the upper middle west and the large lakes to parts of the middle Atlantic and northeast.
• The intergovernmental 95 corridor could at least start with a snow outbreak, including in New York City and Boston, before switching to a winter mix and/or rain.
• T His system is a quick start, so that a large part of his snowfall will be over New England on Sunday when the storm flies off

N Ext week

• The instructions on the predictions of the computer model are indicated that this active winter storm pattern could exist next week in the middle west and in the east.
• This means that one or more rounds of additional snow and ice are possible, but it is too early for details.
• Since colder air progresses to the south, there is the possibility that the areas of the snow and/or the ice are further south compared to what we see this week.
