Shop Amazon, Target and more for early deals

Cyber Monday is here.

According to a recent survey by the National Retain Federation, approximately 72.3 million respondents plan to make a purchase on the first Monday in December. This makes this place the second largest consumer shopping destination in the country after Black Friday.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade your own tech, stock up on toys and games to gift the kids in your life, add some cooking-worthy tools to your kitchen, or finally treat yourself to a beauty product or trendy fashion piece: Cyber Monday Deals at major retailers like Amazon, Target and Best Buy give shoppers another chance to stock up on everything they need for the holidays.

Here’s our guide to Cyber Monday prep, including when and where to shop popular deals.

When is Cyber Monday 2024?

Cyber Monday occurs on the first Monday after Thanksgiving. This year it falls on Monday, December 2nd. However, many retailers begin Cyber Monday sales events the weekend before.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is one of the biggest sales events of the year. It emerged as a kind of reaction or complement to Black Friday and eventually became just as lucrative for retailers.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the official term was coined by the National Retail Federation in 2005. The organization noticed a spike in online shopping on the Monday after Thanksgiving as people returned to work and used their then-faster internet connections in the office than at home to start their holiday lists.

Like Black Friday, retailers capitalized on this by turning it into a full-fledged sales event. As the name suggests, Cyber Monday is generally associated with online sales, as opposed to the traditional brick-and-mortar deals of Black Friday. However, over time, both shopping holidays tend to offer both digital and brick-and-mortar options.

When do Cyber Monday sales start?

Like Black Friday, which has become a kind of “Black November” thanks to sales starting ever earlier, Cyber Monday has expanded its domain beyond a single day.

The biggest deals from retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart are often reserved for Cyber Monday itself, but are also often available for at least two days, if not an entire “Cyber Week.”

Cyber Monday falls on Monday, December 2nd this year.

When does Cyber Monday start on Amazon?

Amazon’s Cyber Monday event starts early, starting on Saturday, November 30th and running until Monday, December 2nd.

As usual, the deals are varied and include up to 50% off tech like JBL headphones and Eufy security cameras, 55% off Zinus mattresses, 40% off select Bissell and Tineco vacuum cleaners, and 20% off Stanley drinkware.

When does Cyber Monday start at Best Buy?

Best Buy’s biggest deals are on Cyber Monday itself, but some will extend into “Cyber Week” sales. Best Buy is also opening its Cyber Monday sales a day early so customers can start redeeming from Sunday, December 1st through Monday, December 2nd.

When does Cyber Monday start at Target?

Target’s Cyber Monday event begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving and runs through Cyber Monday, December 2nd.

Top deals include up to 50% off tech and video games, 25% off beauty, vitamins and nutrition from Elf, CeraVe, Olly and more, 50% off shoes and slippers, and up to 40% off select apparel .

When does Cyber Monday start at Walmart?

Walmart’s Cyber Monday deals also start a little earlier on December 1st.

Some of the biggest discounts are on new technology, like the RCA 32″ Smart TV for just $88, the TCL 55″ Class 4K Roku TV for $188, and the HP Stream 14″ Laptop for $129.

Ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Walmart is also offering 50% off its Walmart+ annual membership, which gives users early access to deals, free shipping and delivery, Paramount+ streaming, fuel discounts and other perks.

Is Cyber Monday better than Black Friday?

Over the years, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become comparable in terms of the quality and quantity of sales. Retailers sometimes lean particularly hard on the “cyber” portion of Cyber Monday and offer particularly deep tech deals, but both holidays now have extended sales, typically lasting longer than one day, and both online where appropriate as well as available in store.
