Shopper stuns internet after sharing photo of clearance find: ‘This is incredible’

A thrift dealer just proved that one person’s tidy jewelry box can be another person’s treasure by snagging a real sterling silver and malachite necklace at a garage sale for just $2.

The find, shared on Reddit’s r/ThriftStoreHauls community, shows a pendant with a deep green malachite stone set in sterling silver. The original poster said that after purchasing the necklace, it was “immediately confiscated by her wife”… and who could blame her?

Sterling silver jewelry typically costs between $50 and several hundred dollars, depending on the craftsmanship and design. When you include the malachite stone, known for its distinctive green stripes and popular in fine jewelry, this flea market find represents significant savings.

Beyond financial gain, buying used clothing and accessories supports a more sustainable lifestyle that benefits both your wallet and the environment. When buyers choose used jewelry, they reduce demand for new mining operations, which has significant environmental impacts, including habitat destruction and increased carbon pollution.

Each piece of jewelry given a second life means fewer precious metals need to be mined from the earth. The mining industry is responsible for up to 7% of the world’s dirty gas pollution, so choosing used jewelry makes a bigger difference than you might think.

The thrill of the hunt is one of the reasons flea markets and thrift shopping are so addictive. You never know when you’ll come across a valuable piece that someone else missed. Other thrift enthusiasts quickly joined in to celebrate the lucky find.

“Great find, an absolute bargain…and I don’t blame her!” wrote one commenter.

Another added: “Wow!!! Great find…it’s beautiful.”

A third saver summed it up perfectly: “This is unbelievable!!!!”
