Small plane makes an emergency landing on I-15 and is involved in a multi-car accident

PAYSON – A plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 15 near Payson Monday evening and was involved in a multi-car accident.

A small plane landed in the northbound lanes of I-15 near mile marker 250, according to Cam Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol.

Roden reported that the plane landed successfully, but “got caught up in traffic” and collided with five cars on the roadway.

No one on the plane was injured, Roden told KSL TV.

The Department of Public Safety reported that “a collision involving at least five vehicles occurred directly behind the aircraft as it touched down.”

Hillary Koellner of the Utah Highway Patrol reported that four people were transported to local hospitals with minor to serious injuries due to the plane and five car collision.

No identifying information was provided at the time of publication.

The northbound lanes of I-15 are closed while officers work to investigate the incident and clear the aircraft. The reopening is expected to take place around 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m
