Snow flurries are possible across New Jersey this evening into tomorrow morning

Partly sunny skies are expected in New Jersey today with high temperatures around 41°F. A light southwesterly wind will be felt at 5 to 10 mph, occasionally gusting to 20 mph. As we move into tonight, clouds will thicken and there is a 40% chance of snow showers forming before 4am, which could mix with rain later tonight. Snow accumulation will be minimal, likely less than half an inch. Temperatures will drop to around 38°F and southwest winds will strengthen, becoming breezy at 15 to 20 mph.

There is a continued risk of precipitation Thursday morning, with snow showers possible before 8 a.m., followed by the possibility of further severe weather by midday. Skies will clear as the day progresses, revealing sunshine in the afternoon, although temperatures will remain cool with highs around 39°F. Westerly winds will become significantly stronger, reaching sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts of up to 50 mph, making for a stormy day.

Thursday night will be mostly clear but cold, with lows around 26°F. Winds remain brisk, coming from the west at 20 to 25 miles per hour and can gust up to 72 miles per hour, adding additional chill to the air. Expect a brighter day and sunny skies through Friday, although temperatures will only rise to highs of around 36°F. Northwest winds remain active at 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, keeping the winter chill firmly under control.

Compared to December averages, today’s high of 41°F is largely in line with typical daytime temperatures for this time of year, although the strong winds and frequent storms create a more dynamic and wintry feel. Noticeable cold is expected on Thursday and Friday, temperatures will be slightly below average and the wind will increase the cold. This pattern highlights the transition to a lively and stormy start to December.
