Some of the ashes of Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister are finding another resting place, and it’s the cheekiest one yet

Motörhead founder, singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister may have died on December 28, 2015. But not even death stopped him from visiting all his favorite places with his closest friends. While the majority of Kilmister’s ashes were interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, his estate left a small portion of his remains from his 3D printed, hat-shaped urn to be distributed to various locations around the world.

As of December 2024, Kilmister will have another partial resting place. And in fact, this spot is by far the cheekiest one ever.

“The ashes of Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister find a new resting place”

On December 18, 2024, a small portion of Motörhead bassist Lemmy Kilmister’s ashes will arrive at his favorite high-end strip club in London: Stringfellows. “Stringfellows always had a special place in Lemmy’s heart,” said Motörhead manager Todd Singerman Classic rock. “He loved the rock and roll spirit that Peter brought to the club.”

“He loved the relaxed atmosphere and especially the view,” he continued. “I know he is relieved to be able to enjoy one of his favorite places on the planet again.”

In fact, Kilmister said this in an interview with The Hollywood Times. When asked where he likes to spend his time when traveling, the Motörhead founder named Stringfellows as one of his go-to places. “There’s always a warm welcome there,” Kilmister said. “I have known the owner, Peter, since 1964.”

Kilmister’s ashes are kept at Stringfellows’ home in an urn that resembles the rock star’s signature cavalry hat. The high-end London club will host a celebration in honor of its late regular, and Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell will also be in attendance.

Stringfellows continues a long, strange tradition

Lemmy Kilmister’s final resting place at Stringfellows strip club in London may sound like a strange posthumous choice. However, this is one of many interesting ways Kilmister asked his estate to distribute his ashes.

The first way Kilmister’s estate spread the rock star’s ashes was by sending a single bullet containing a portion of his remains to his closest friends. Recipients included Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, metal personality Riki Rachtman, Ugly Kid Joe’s Whitfield Crane, Hanoi Rocks’ Michael Monroe and singer Doro Pesch.

“This is crazy,” Halford said of the gift (via Loudwire). “Lemmy would have liked to have done something like that. To think about being accepted into this little circle of friends where you actually have a little piece of Lemmy’s ashes and wear it on a pendant around your neck. You literally care about him when it comes to his remains. This is simply stunningly powerful. Using such an object to carry his remains is just the way it is, Lenny. It’s provocative, it makes you think, it makes you talk. But it’s just magical to have a beautiful piece of Lemmy physically in my home now.”

Other resting places for Kilmister’s remains include the soil of the German metal festival Wacken Open Air; his favorite LA hangout, Rainbow Bar & Grill; in a bust in Nottingham’s Rock City, which will be a part of the Bloodstock Festival each year; and in a spade tattoo on Metallica frontman James Hetfield.
