Sources – Washington QB Demond Williams Jr. will see an uptick in snaps against the Ducks

Washington freshman quarterback Demond Williams Jr. is expected to see a significant increase in snaps at No. 1 Oregon on Saturday, sources told ESPN.

This larger role holds the potential for him to make his first career start, sources told ESPN. Williams has played in every game for Washington this season in a reserve role behind veteran Will Rogers as the Washington team has been eager to give him experience as he develops into the program’s quarterback of the future.

Williams came off the bench last week and led three second-half hits against UCLA to help Washington win 31-19 and secure a bowl score of 6-5. The victory extended Washington’s home winning streak to 20 games and secured a 6-0 home record on the season.

He completed 7 of 8 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 31 yards on six carries.

Williams played well in the second half of a loss to Penn State, even in extended appearances off the bench. He helped Washington move the ball in that blowout loss, including a 43-yard run.

Earlier this year, coach Jedd Fisch told the Seattle media about Williams: “Demond is going to be the face of Washington football next year. But he will continue to get reps this season like he has.”

Washington football’s identity for next year comes into focus as star throwback Jonah Coleman announced he will return to Washington in 2025. He has rushed for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns this year.

Washington’s 6-5 record comes as the Huskies return just two starters from the team that played for the national title last year. They only have 70 return offensive snaps from the Huskies’ two games against Oregon last year, which came in the regular season and the Pac-12 title game.
