Sports team robbed at gunpoint at start of US tour: ‘They can’t take away our ability to play rock songs’

They shared a statement on their social media: “Was robbed at gunpoint just ten minutes into the US tour. Stopped to have a coffee. A man runs in and says some guys are crashing into a van. Ran out to try and stop him and find him masked.” The boys searched the van and pulled out a gun. They lost a lot of personal equipment, but they didn’t get the instruments, so they drove to Sacramento tonight to play, but they can never stand our ability to play rock songs on highways. Everyone seemed resigned to it. “It’s happening.” 9 a.m. at some Starbucks gas station.

When the band stopped for breakfast at a Starbucks in Vallejo, California, their van was broken into and personal items such as film cameras, laptops, passports and diaries, as well as their suitcases containing all of their clothing, were stolen. Fortunately, their instruments were in a separate part of the transporter, locked.

The band was on its way to Sacramento to play the first show of the North American tour. They had to cancel the first night of the tour in San Francisco due to flight cancellations and delays. Despite the robbery, they will return to the area next week for shows in San Diego and Los Angeles. “We’re going to keep playing,” said singer Alex Rice BBC. “We have nothing against the Bay Area. We think it’s great here – but it’s sad that gun violence has gotten to this point.”
