Stabbing, accidental shooting and double murder

There has been an alarming series of family tragedies in the Houston area in recent weeks, with arguments between siblings turning deadly.

Three separate incidents involving siblings have left a trail of grief and unanswered questions and shed a dark light on the devastating impact of family conflict.

Nov. 17: Deadly altercation in northern Harris County

A family dispute in northern Harris County escalated into a deadly confrontation earlier this month. On November 17, officers responded to a disturbance in the 18200 block of Chisholm Trail where they found the following Jyzell Atlee, 21He suffers from severe stab wounds. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators arrested Jyzell’s younger brother. Keion Atlee, 17at the crime scene. Originally charged with aggravated assault, the situation worsened after Jyzell died from his injuries on November 23rd. The charge was later increased to murderand Keion remains in custody while the investigation continues.

Authorities are still investigating the details of the altercation, including why several people reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.

November 25: Fatal mistake at Tomball

Around the same time, another family tragedy occurred in Tomball. A group of teenagers had gathered in a barn for a night of drinking when a gun in their possession turned the gathering into a nightmare.

Say the authorities Rhyder Tettleton, 17He accidentally shot his younger brother, 16, while handling the gun. Witnesses described the terrifying moment when the younger brother screamed: “I think I’m going to die. Help me! Help me!” before it collapses.

Rhyder initially denied involvement but later admitted firing the gun because he believed it was unloaded. He also confessed to helping hide the firearms after the incident. He’s in front now Second degree manslaughter Charges and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

November 29: Gruesome scene in west Houston

The series of violence between siblings culminated in a shocking double murder in West Houston. On November 29, police were alerted to a hostage situation at an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Richmond Avenue.

Officers discovered a gruesome scene in the apartment: a 28-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter had been fatally stabbed. Traces of blood at the crime scene indicate this Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29the woman’s brother and the child’s uncle, who was found sleeping on the couch.

Fisher was taken into custody and charged Capital murder. He remains in jail on a $200,000 bond, with court proceedings scheduled to begin in early December.

The city is expecting heartbreak

In just two weeks, three Houston families were torn apart by sibling violence. Although the circumstances are different in each case, they all have something in common: grief, tragedy and the frightening reminder of how quickly conflict can escalate.
