Star football players at North Shore HS are making their college commitments official

Wednesday marked the first day of the early signing period for the 2025 college football recruiting class, giving high school recruits their first opportunity to put pen to paper and commit to their future universities.

KPRC 2’s Ari Alexander was at North Shore Senior High School in Houston to watch some of the top players announce their commitments. One 5-star player and two 4-star players signed today.

Cornerback Devin Sanchez was one of the most heavily recruited players in his class. According to 247Sports, Sanchez, a consensus 5-star recruit, was the No. 5 player in the country, the No. 2 player in Texas and the No. 1 cornerback in the Class of ’25. After verbally committing to Ohio State in January, Sanchez stuck with his choice and signed with the Buckeyes.

Linebacker Charles Ross also signed his letter of intent today. A 4-star recruit, Ross was ranked as the No. 42 player in the country, the No. 12 player in Texas and the No. 2 linebacker in the ’25 class according to 247Sports. Like Sanchez, Ross stuck with his original decision and committed to LSU, where he had been verbally committed since March.

North Shore’s second 4-star recruit to commit today was Quanell X Farrakhan Jr., the son of Houston-based activist Quanell, a Texas State player on 247Sports. He committed to play in Colorado.

Six other North Shore players also made their decisions official today:

  • DL Kylan Darville (Stephen F. Austin State)

  • WR Deion Deblanc (Wyoming)

  • OT Jordan Fields (Pittsburgh)

  • RB D’Andre Hardeman, Jr. (Rice)

  • IOL Jakoby Isom (Louisiana)

  • CB Nigel Pringle (Arkansas)
