Start with Keon Ellis and De’Aaron Fox against the Warriors

The Kings downgraded star point guard De’Aaron Fox (gluteus maximus) from doubtful to out on Sunday afternoon ahead of their Sunday night game at Golden State against the Warriors. Since Fox is on hiatus, Malik Monk ($6,800) will get more work as a point guard and rookie Devin Carter ($3,000) could get more work after his NBA debut on Friday. Monk is pretty expensive though, so there it is Keon Ellis ($3,600) that becomes a fantasy bargain in Fox’s absence.

Ellis started the last two games for the Kings and made enough of an impact to be a good value play under $4,000. He moved back into the starting five Keegan Murray ($4,800) is out due to an ankle injury.

He started against the 76ers on January 1 and recorded nine points, four steals and 26.75 fantasy points in 38 minutes. He was even better on Thursday against the Grizzlies, scoring 30.5 fantasy points with 13 points, three steals, three assists and four rebounds.

This season, Ellis averaged 0.76 fantasy points per minute and averaged 20.8 minutes per game. With Fox off the floor, Ellis’ production has reached as high as 0.81 fantasy points per minute.

With Murray available after missing the last two games, Ellis would likely have reverted to the second unit and limited fantasy potential, but Fox’s absence should open up enough opportunities for the 24-year-old to be a good player again this Sunday to be .
