Stephen Curry takes over the deputy GM role for Davidson Hoops

Stephen Curry, Star of Golden State Warriors, and his Alma Mater Davidson College, as deputy general, took on a role for the basketball programs, said University officials ESPN.

Curry is the first active player in the US professional sport who takes on an administrative job at a NCAA team.

In his new role, Curry, who played three seasons at Davidson (2006-09), will give the male and women’s teams a guide due to his college and work experience.

He will work with General Manager Austin Buntz, a former member of the global sports marketing team from Under Armor. Curry first signed under Under Armor in 2013 and started his own curry brand as an independent company with the company in 2020. In recent years, he also signed a lifelong contract shoe store.

Curry, his wife Ayesha Curry and the long-time supporters of Davidson College, Don, Matt and Erica Berman, will also start an eight-eagerly fund for the men’s and women’s programs. Matt Berman, who played three seasons at Davidson as a member of the 2005 class, will serve as another assistant GM.

“The Davidson experience is first class,” said Curry in a statement published by the school. “My journey from when I came to Davidson in 2006, now showed that I had the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level, to get a great training, an astonishing network through Davidson -Alumni and continue to wave the Davidson flag.

As a second year in Davidson, Curry set up the NCAA single season record for 3 points, was appointed conference player of the year twice and became number 7 in the NBA draft in 2009 by the Warriors.

The future Hall of Fam won two most valuable players and four championships with the Warriors and in its 16th season with the team.

Curry returned to Davidson in 2022 to conclude his Bachelor’s degree as a member of the 2010 class. He was also included in the school’s Hall of Fame.

In a similar step, the retired NFL Quarterback Andrew Luck took on a position of General Manager in his Alma Mater Stanford last year.
