Stephen Curry’s 52-point game moves him past Jerry West on the NBA goal list

The focus was right in the immediate way.

On Tuesday, Stephen Curry scored 52 points on a win of 134-125 against the Memphis Grizzlies, which converted the emerging Golden State Warriors to fifth place in the Western Conference rating. He made 12 three-point shots, two shy of the former teammate Klay Thompson’s single game NBA record.

Curry’s performance was so beyond the world that Gilbert Arenas had stopped watching his son, USC commit Alijah, in the McDonald’s all-American game in order to follow the 37-year-old all-Star Guard.

But at a moment to think, Curry became emotional because on the way he existed on the way to the late Jerry West for 25th place on the NBA career calculation. West of course played his entire 14-year career at the Lakers and is best known worldwide to be the inspiration for the NBA logo.

From 2011 to 2017 he also worked as a special consultant for Warriors. During this time, Curry led the team to two NBA championships. West’s son Jonnie is the Senior Director of Profi of Warriors.

“This is something special, obviously remembered in us and what he for the league, for the world of basketball, for our organization when he worked here,” said Curry about west, who died in June. “And my relationship with Jonnie. After the game I had to speak to him just to share what it means for me, my family, the whole family in west.

“This is something special. Just understanding what his career was, that’s the logo, something very special. I will keep this ball and put it in a good place.”

The top 25 in the career rating -Curry has 25,205 points -is a performance that Curry estimated because it was put in the shade to the west. Otherwise it is just another rung in a ladder that he will continue to climb with Warp speed.

In his 16 -season, Curry’s game reduced only one tick. After the 52-point, 10-rebound, eight assist and six-steal performance, he achieved an average of 24.4 points, 6.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game this season.

Career average? 24.7 points, 6.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds.

When he predicted that he will produce for three more seasons near these numbers-as he 40, Curry was 30,000 points, a number that only eight players reached: from above, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chavin Durant.

The Clippers’ James Harden, who is currently 11th with 27,527 points, will probably hit Curry at 30,000, and Demar Derozan is located on Curry’s heels with 25,159.

In the fourth quarter on Tuesday, however, Curry was reminded of not watching recordings when he missed successive three -point attempts with Thompsons Mark in his head. He knocked on his chest and apologized to teammates after the second faulty shot.

“The first two shots that I made in the fourth quarter reflected that,” said Curry. “First touch, it shot in the transition. Then ISO left wing. I missed both and then I somehow got into reality. These were the ultimate heat tests, even though I just got back to the game.”

Warrior’s coach Steve Kerr excused his star guard for the current decay.

“The guy is 37 years old,” he said. “Incredible. Fifty -two points with people who have draped the whole game all over the game. The conditioning. The ability. The boldness. Faith. It is simply incredible to see Steph at work.”
