Stranger Things: The first shadow evaluation: Bühnen -Prequel -Spectacle

Stranger Things: The first shadow is now playing in the Marquis Theater in New York City and in the Phoenix Theater in London.

Is a Mega-budget stage stage in front of strangers: the first shadow A necessary addition to the tradition of HIT Netflix Show? Under no circumstances. But is this breathtaking theater spectacle damn a lot of fun? Absolutely so.

Mainly a history of origin for Henry Creel, also known as The fourth season The first shadow, the Big-Bad Vecna, is set up to satisfy the bizarre event in Hawkins, Indiana and the fans with some familiar characters without playing with something important for the continuity of the series. In the form of younger versions of Joyce Byers (born Moldanado), Jim Hopper, the sadistic Dr. Brenner and of course Bob Newby is tempted for Diehards. (If you don’t remember who is, don’t worry-it is hardly important.) And since Vecna returns for the much-delayed fifth and last season of the show, he is first shadow Makes sense as a bridge between the seasons. But it is not as if they were completely at sea if they cannot make it to the piece before the last row of episodes fall on Netflix.

However, what you will see is very pleasant – full of astonishing stage sets, impressive jumping fear and really exciting acts of theatrics. And if the script is sometimes stuck in the fan service, there is a surprising emotional effectiveness in the efforts of its main character to save itself.

The attitude is 1959 and a teenager -Henry (Louis McCartney) is looking for a new start for a violent incident in his last school. At Hawkins High, he finds romance with the friendly Patty Newby (Gabrielle Nevaeh) when the two are occupied as a lead in the student game. But at night a dark force comes along with Henry’s body, using his powers of telepathy and telekinesis to terrible ends – brought to life from an apparently bottomless bag of theater tricks.

The experienced director Stephen Daldry and co-director Justin Martin, the first shadow make-up, effects and landscape teams, conjure up a healthy mix of huge set pieces and old-fashioned stage magic for miracles. The opener, in which a battleship is sprinkled by attack on demogorgons, is stunning. The telepathic excursion from Creel in Hawkins use doubles, stage tricks and puppetry games to achieve an urgent effect. And when the mind flayer appears her appearance, the big girl doesn’t disappoint.

The first shadow Also adheres to Stranger Things’ strangely appealing collision of teenagers and bloodthirsty violence. Since Daldry ensures that the piece always moves in a steady clip, hard jumps from Fratricide can definitely recognize the theater club drama. But the tonal whipped room As we know.

The anchor in the middle of the entire madness is McCartney, a virtuoso talent.

A little more about playing with the game, since it takes up as many real estate in storytelling as Henry himself (hardly an exaggeration): The children pretend to attract Oklahoma! But her student director, a passionate Joyce (Alison Jaye), has a different vision. It confronts a “revolutionary” production of Dark of the moona dark piece from 1945 (not to be confused with The continuation of the transformers) Concentrated on a witch boy who falls in love with a young girl and tries to become human. Fortunately, the parallels to Creel’s story are not excessively underlined.

Jaye makes an artistic Winona Ryder impression and reflects Ryder’s strange mannerisms without exaggerating it. Joyce always defends the interest of a young Jim Hopper, who is also captured by Burke Swanson and who finds an over -compensating Machismo, who in turn is against Hopper from a piece with David Harbor’s loved one. But in the end there are some known faces outside the fan walking, there is no reason why both are in the first shadow. Technically speaking, Joyce and Jim’s action has connections to Henry’s, but it always feels like it is happening in his own piece. The inclusion of Bob Newby (played in the third season of the Sean Astin show) is even more unnecessary, and Juan Carlos’ breathlessly frenzied intake proves to be a grid.

Although his 2-hour and 45-minute term flies by, first shadow Loses a focus in a confused second act. Henry’s outsider bond with Patty is really touching, but her central relationship is in the middle of the much cruel business with Dr. Brenner lost. Alex Breaux is good like the future father figure/pector of Henry’s Telekinetic Eleven, and it is fun to watch him and McCartney how he has a freaky off. But after about one and a half scenes with burner, we basically get the core: it is evil!

The anchor in the middle of all madness is McCartney, a virtuoso talent that brings a sweet but demonic flair to young Henry. The fight in Henry always feels noticeable, even if he makes brave attempts in a normal life. It is the anti-eleven story, and McCartney holds the whole thing together.
