Super Bowl Champion Eagles accept the invitation of the White House of Trump

The Philadelphia Eagles officially accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to celebrate their youngest Super Bowl victory in the White House.

The press spokesman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, said on Tuesday at a briefing that Trump will welcome the team to Washington on April 28th.

“We sent an invitation. You have enthusiastically accepted. And you will see them here on April 28,” said Leavitt.

The invitation – and the decision of the Eagles to accept them had been expected in the past few weeks, since both sides had publicly stated their willingness to drive a visit to the ceremonial white house. On February 24, the team signaled that it would accept an invitation from Trump if one received one. And Trump said the next day: “You are absolutely extended this invitation.”

The Eagles’ ceremonial house, which has long been a tradition for championship sports teams, had largely become a tradition of championship sports teams due to the Snafu between Trump and the Eagles after their previous Super Bowl victory in 2018.

At the beginning of his first term, Trump abruptly replaced the Eagles on the eve of her planned visit after an NFL network report that Philadelphia had planned to send a smaller contingent of fewer than 10 players to the ceremony. The then press spokeswoman for House, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, tore the team at the time to try “a political stunt”. Instead, the White House organized a short, uncomfortable event the next day, which it described as a celebration of America.

Trump at times has a frosty relationship with the NFL and its players. During his first term, he repeatedly criticized the players, sometimes explicitly, who kneel during the national anthem to protest against racist inequality. “Wouldn’t you like to see one of these NFL owners … say: ‘Get this son of a bitch now. He was fired,” he said at a 2017 rally.

Only one of the four teams who won a super bowl during Trump’s first term made a trip to the White House: the New England Patriots in 2017. NBA teams, whose players are mostly black, were either not invited to visit the white house or to lean. And in a departure from the precedent, several championship teams received no invitations in women’s sports in Trump’s first term.
