Suspect killed after Peoria police officers pushed into another car, PD says

Two Peoria Officers were pushed against another car by a suspect before he was shot Sunday morning, police said.

The incident began on the morning of December 1st Grand Avenue and Loop 101. A business owner was watching his security cameras and saw an unknown man enter his closed store, allegedly through nearby cars.

“When officers arrived in the area, they observed the unidentified male actively breaking into vehicles. Officers attempted to make contact with the unidentified man and he attempted to flee the area by getting into his vehicle and driving away. The unidentified man put the car in reverse. and he pushed two of our officers against another vehicle. Officers fired at least one bullet at the unidentified male,” Peoria police said.

The suspect died at the scene around 6:50 a.m. He was not identified.

The two officers, who were handcuffed to another car, were taken to the hospital. According to police, the injuries appear to be minor.

“Buckeye Police, as part of the West Valley Investigative Response Team, is the lead investigative agency for this investigation. The officers involved had their activated body-worn cameras,” the department said.

There is no information about the father.
