Tamara Tunie and Daphnée Duplai on the importance of representation on the new day of the day “Beyond the Gates”

A new CBS day drama does Story As the first soap opera in decades, which contains a black family in their center. “Beyond the Gates” follows the mighty Dupree family in a wealthy suburb of Maryland.

The daily drama will concentrate on the Duprees if they navigate in their lives. The series is also the first day soap opera that has been lit green for over 25 years.

Actor Tamara Tunie – Anyone who appeared in the series and was also in “As the World Turns” appeared on Thursday in “CBS -Morgen” and said that she decided to return to soap operas because of her universal message.

“The only thing that would bring me back is this show because of its historical nature, the focus of the African -American family is the central family on the show that has never happened before,” said Tunie. “The family is a wealthy family, a politically connected family, a loving family. You know, a supporting family. And the show is multicultural. We have Asians, we have Hispanic, we all represented on the show.”

Tunie also praised the show of the show behind the scenes.

“You know, after spending so many years on TV, where I was often not the only black person in the building, it is very, very, very calming to go to a room where you can see where you are See in the people you work with, “said Tunie.

Daphnée Duplai, who also plays in the series, praised the series for the normalization of Black Excellence.

“Black Excellence is that it is not only our rappers and our entertainers and athletes. We don’t have to be wealthy to be black excellence,” she said. “They are our service, they are our community leaders, they are our supervisors.”

While she focuses on a black family, “Beyond the Gates” offers universal topics and storylines.

“Secrets and lies, all the good human things,” said Tunie.
