Taylor Swift | The Eras tour book definitely won’t make the New York Times bestseller list

Taylor Swift Her resume includes an unbeatable list of records and firsts. But don’t expect to see their just-released offer, Taylor Swift | The Eras tour bookon the New York Times Bestseller list, as the newspaper no longer appears in the charts due to long-standing restrictions.

Swift was once said to be the author of the book accompanying the film Argyllereleased her 256-page hardcover book on Friday following an Instagram announcement last month. The book contains “my own personal reflections, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photos, all the magical memories you brought with you every night,” Swift wrote in a video that spun across some of its pages.

Neither the topic nor the focus on photos detract from the book Just List that many publishers consider the gold standard for a book’s success. Rather, it’s about the distribution model chosen by Swift The Eras tour book: As esquire As Taylor Swift discovered last week, she didn’t bother publishing and distributing her book through a traditional publisher. Instead, she self-published it and chose a single retailer, major department store Target, as the only place where people could purchase a new copy of the book. Don’t look on Amazon, it’s not there – nor is it in your local independent bookstore, the print media section of Walmart, or any other Barnes & Noble location. It’s goal or bust.

This strategy benefits Swift’s ongoing efforts to control her creative output and brand. Her decision to release “Taylor’s Versions” of her songs after a dispute over ownership of her master recordings is well known, and arguably paved the way for her independently distributed documentary, a well-reviewed account of the Eras Tour, which opened the biggest weekend for one concert film in history, although it was only available in AMC theaters.

Swift’s decision to shoot her film only at AMC had no impact on how box office watchers noted its success, but the same can’t be said for the film Just List. “A title sold exclusively by a single seller is not eligible for tracking,” a representative told the newspaper Esquire, which means that – especially given Swift’s track record – the NYTThe carefully curated ranking could top this weekend’s biggest blockbuster.

However, it is possible that the Just The list may not be as influential as publishers and authors would have us believe. In conversation with Stanford business, Alan Sorensen – a professor who studies the impact of bestseller lists on book sales – says that unknown authors may get a boost from being featured on the bestseller list NYT list, the inclusion makes little difference to the sale of books by well-known names such as: Danielle Steele or Stephen King. “It’s free publicity for new writers who make the list,” he says, but that’s hardly true for someone like Swift, who, with all due respect to Steele and King, could be one of the most recognizable names in the world.

Swift’s exclusion could be good news for the current leader on the non-fiction bestseller list, a book written by another music icon. Cher: The Memoirs Part One is currently at number one, marking the first time it has appeared on the charts since the book’s release on November 19th. But while people are ordering Cher’s book from the comfort of their own homes, fans gathered outside Target locations this morning for a first try at Swift’s Story (which Target will begin offering online starting November 30).

“Yeah, it’s really cold, but we’re here to get Taylor Swift’s tour book,” said a Chicago-area shopper Carlos Miracle said Reuters this morning. “I don’t usually buy anything during the holidays,” says a New Jersey Target shopper Amy Webb said from an early morning line. “But (I) wanted to get my hands on it before it sold out.”
