Impact Weather: Temperatures could drop to freezing in northern counties

FLORIDA. ALL OF THIS IS PART OF THE SYSTEM THAT GOES THROUGH. AND FIRST WARNING: METEOROLOGIST KELLIANNE KLASS IS HERE. NOW GETTING IT ALL BROKEN DOWN FOR US BECAUSE WE ALSO CALLED IMPACT WEATHER FOR US ON THE SITE TODAY. And it has nothing to do with the winter weather we’ll experience mid-week. BUT THERE ARE TWO BIG WEATHER STORIES. Therefore, the impact of the weather this morning will feel like temperatures in the 20s and 30s, along with potentially frigid conditions for Marion County and Flagler County. Then mid-week we have a winter storm system moving across the state and moving in. Yes, the potential for some snow in parts of the Florida panhandle and even an icy mix for our northern locations, at least for this morning. You don’t need to worry about that at the moment. You just have to bundle it. WE HAVE PLAIN WEATHER UNTIL TEN, THE TEMPERATURE FEELING IN THE 20S AND 30S, ESPECIALLY AS WE APPROACH SEVEN, EIGHT, 9:00 HOUR. Right now we’re not even close to freezing in Central Florida, but those temperatures will continue to drop as the morning progresses. Even though it feels cold, it feels like 36. In OCALA, 36 in Palm Coast, 39 in Deland and 39 in WILDWOOD. BUT AT 9:00 IT WILL FEEL LIKE 29 DEGREES IN OCALA, 27 DEGREES IN PALM COAST, 35 DEGREES IN DELAND AND 33 DEGREES IN WILDWOOD. SO NOT NOW UNTIL THE WEATHER HAPPENS. AFTER THAT, JUST MOSTLY CLOUDY CONDITIONS, A FEW SPREADS OF SUNSHINE, AND OUR HIGH TODAY IN THE 50S. So it will be a cool afternoon again. Fortunately, NO RAINFALL WILL FALL TODAY, BUT OUR RAINFALL WILL INCREASE FROM TOMORROW AND THEN TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY WE WILL BRING THE STORM SYSTEM IN MOTION ACROSS THE AREA AND THAT WILL BRING WINTER WEATHER FOR OUR NORTHERN FRIENDS HERE LOCALLY. It’s just going to be a cold rain at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Increasing showers, primarily along the I-4 corridor and southeast for tomorrow. This is where we will see the heaviest rainfall. And then as we head into Tuesday night, we’re starting to bring that wintry precipitation to North Florida by about 10 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, right through the end of the overnight hours. By this time Wednesday morning, there will be just widespread rain and we will be watching the possibility of icing across our northern locations, primarily around Marion County. RIGHT NOW THE THREAT IS LOW, BUT ALWAYS NOT ZERO. A LOT OF OUR NUMBERS IN MARION COUNTY SHOW STRENGTH ABOVE EARLY HOURS, WHICH IS GREAT, BUT IF WE GO TO FREEZING A LOT COULD CHANGE. THIS FORECAST FOR MARION COUNTY WILL GO UP AND DOWN FOR NOW. I would just put it on your radar. Fortunately, there is no winter weather watch for Marion County, but we will definitely be looking at it, especially one run at a time as we get more data over the season. When we get to freezing temperatures or even below, we worry about freezing precipitation or ice on the roads. NOW HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE AFTERNOON INTO THE 50S. TOMORROW MORNING, 30-40°C, WITH A LITTLE FROST NORTH AND WEST OF THE CITY. 50’S FOR TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND THEN AGAIN WEDNESDAY MORNING AS WE TRACK THIS WINTER STORM SYSTEM. By Wednesday afternoon, all rainfall will taper off, but it will be cool, with highs in the 50s. THURSDAY. Luckily just a cool rain with around 30% COV
