Birmingham, AL – A sunny but chilly Monday sets the tone for the week in Alabama, with temperatures expected to dip into the 20s across the region this evening. Residents along the I-65 corridor should prepare for freezing temperatures tonight, with lows ranging from 23°F in northern areas to 29°F further south.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, highs will reach the upper 40s to mid 50s on Monday before falling overnight. Calm winds and clear skies contribute to widespread frost formation. Bundle up and take precautions for pets and exposed pipes when temperatures drop.

Tuesday brings sunny skies with highs around 44°F, offering some relief from the biting cold. The wind remains light, making it a fresh but manageable day. However, Wednesday marks the return of unsettled weather. Rain showers are expected late Wednesday evening, with the chance of rain rising to 60%. Highs on Wednesday will peak at 53°F before the system moves in.

The extended forecast shows mixed conditions with sunny spells and chances of rain throughout the week. There could be persistent rain Thursday morning, but skies will clear later and the high temperature will be around 52°F. Through Friday, you can expect a cool but sunny day with highs in the 40s.

Plan accordingly for variable weather and monitor local updates for rain impacts throughout the week. Those commuting on major roads such as I-20 and I-65 should watch for slippery conditions overnight into the early morning hours.
