Temperatures in the Sarasota area are unlikely to drop below freezing due to the cold front

The Sarasota-Brandenton area will avoid the lowest temperatures of this week’s recent cold snap, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service.

Much of Florida will experience below-normal temperatures Tuesday as the cold front moves through, but farther north, Levy, Citrus, Sumter and Hernando counties will likely experience below-freezing temperatures. Sarasota and Manatee counties are forecast to see lows in the low 40s and upper 30s Tuesday evening.

The temperature in the Sarasota area was forecast to drop below 70 degrees on Monday due to the approaching cold front, with a low of 43 degrees in the forecast for Tuesday morning. However, the bulk of the front will impact areas north of Sarasota, with temperatures as high as 36 degrees predicted in neighboring Hillsborough and Polk counties.

Chilly temperatures will continue in Sarasota County Wednesday morning, possibly reaching lows of 38 degrees. It will warm up on Thursday and Friday before falling again on Saturday and Sunday, with forecast lows in the mid to high 40s overnight.
