Texas State Leaders compete at the Medal of Honor celebration at the opening of the museum

Gainesville, Texas (KXII) – The Medal of Honor Week continued on Thursday in Gainesville with the opening of the New Medal of Honor Museum on North Central Texas College (NCTC).

“Leave this museum as a permanent tribute,” said Texas Foreign Minister Jane Nelson and spoke to the large amount and recipients. “May it inspire future generations to love this country, to serve their neighbors and live with the same values they have confirmed.”

Managers from all over the region and the state collected this large milestone.

“More than 100,000 students, citizens and visitors will go through the NCTC campus every year,” said Rep. Brandon Gill. “That is 100,000 lives touched, taught and changed, and they all remember that the medal of honor is not given, it is deserved.”

A statement by Senator Brent Hagenbuch (R-Texas).

“There are only a few who have been called and answered the call to the measure of the congress medal, and I appreciate them all,” he said. “It is a great, great honor to get to know you, and I hope you can see how much we appreciate you.”

James Taylor, recipient of the Medal of Honor, said this museum has been in the works for over two decades.

“We had a dream about it,” he said. “That means so much to me here and all friends I have met there for over 23 years cannot replace it and think of her every day.”

The NCTC Chancellor Dr. Brent Wallace said that the emotions in the air on Thursday were powerful.

“I saw a lot of tears today,” he said. “I saw a lot of the family, especially from our recipients who are moved to tears when they see the memorabilia of their loved ones in a beautiful facility.”

The museum will be officially accessible to the public for a few more weeks, but those present have a little insight into the public.

“It is simply fantastic that the population of Gainesville and the surrounding area has to come, this is the jewel, it is precious and wonderful,” said Taylor.
