The teenager was killed after he and his four friends illuminated fireworks on the property of the Christian Church of the New Testament on Monday at 2 a.m.

Pastor Phillip Kinson said the surveillance video caught the boys who jump over a fence near the main street and went to a grass -covered hill near one of the church buildings.

The investigators said the 15-year-old boy had a tube near his body nearby. He lit fireworks and dropped it in the tubes, but it exploded moments later in the tubes.

“This was very difficult for all of our first aiders. It is always tragic when we have to go to a youthful death, in particular an unnecessary death, ”said Carly Cappetto, public information officer of the Sheriff office of Pierce County.

“This is an unfortunate situation. The pastor hurried to the church after receiving a call from one of his church members.

He said he saw another fireworks on the ground at the scene, which was more than one foot long and a few centimeters wide.

The investigators said they are not sure how the boys got the fireworks. However, they emphasized that draining fireworks is illegal at the moment.

“We don’t know where these mortar came from. We don’t know if they are legal or illegal, ”said Cappetto. “Fireworks are extremely dangerous, especially mortar.”

After the pastor spoke to the boy’s family, the pastor said that the family had to organize a vigil to honor their son in the church on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
