Harrington Moving and Storage recently put together an article about finding the perfect place to retire in the Garden State. “Ready to find out where you can retire in New Jersey that fits your budget and lifestyle? Here are six of the best neighborhoods for retirees in New Jersey, whether you’re looking for affordable New Jersey retirement communities or beach living at its finest.”

So let’s take a look at the 6 BEST places to retire in New Jersey. The Harrington Moving and Storage article focused on six different locations for a perfect retirement and highlighted what makes them a great choice as each location offers different benefits. The list is in no particular order.

Lambertville: “Part of the Greater Philadelphia or Delaware Valley metropolitan area, Lambertville is a small city known for its charming and walkable downtown. Lambertville is New Jersey’s antique capital, with small antique shops, boutiques, restaurants and bed and breakfasts lining the quaint streets. “

Surf town: Half of this beach community’s residents are seniors. “You’ll love the walkable city full of art galleries, gift shops, boutiques, bookstores, restaurants and fresh seafood.”

Small egg port: “It’s easy to see what makes Little Egg Harbor such an attractive choice for seniors retiring in New Jersey. Located on New Jersey’s largest bay, Little Egg Harbor is surrounded by Bass River State Forest and wetland conservation areas. It’s a dream come true for active adults and outdoor enthusiasts.

Long Beach Township: “Long Beach Township is an affluent retirement destination in New Jersey with a median home price of $1.5 million. About 40% of the population is 65 years and older, the average age is 61 years.”

Resort town in Berkeley: “It is one of the largest retirement communities in New Jersey with more than 10,000 homes in multiple neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own clubhouse, residential community, social clubs and schedule of activities and events.”

Manchester Municipality: “Approximately 49% of the 45,000 people who live in Manchester Township are ages 65 and older. Why? Because it’s the best place to retire in New Jersey on a budget while staying close to the beach. Manchester is frequently ranked as the best place to retire in New Jersey by Forbes due to its low crime, air quality, high number of doctors per resident, average real estate prices and more.”

Personally, I live in Little Egg Harbor, Ocean County, so I’m ready for the golden years when they finally arrive.
