The Acolyte actor gives hints about what fans can expect from a possible second season

The Acolyte proved to be one of Disney’s most problematic films star Wars Series. Although the series was not renewed, Manny Jacinto recently gave a glimpse of a possible second season.

“There would definitely be more of (Darth) Plagueis in the second or, if not, the third season of the series, but I just can’t say because we could come back” Jacinto, whose Sith Lord character pretended to be a smuggler named Qimir for most of the series, said via Collider during an appearance at FanExpo San Francisco. “I don’t want to spoil anything or give anyone false hope, but I would just say that there is definitely a lot more to explore.”

When Jacinto was asked about his character’s connection to Darth Plagueis, his answer was a bit hesitant. “Oh man, that’s a tough question,” he said shyly. “They’re not (connected), they definitely aren’t. Oh man, how am I supposed to answer that? What time is it? There are definitely a lot of different theories about who he is because we never really know who he really is. Is Qimir’s name actually Qimir? We really wanted to explore it.

Created by Leslye Headland, The Acolyte takes place about 100 years before 1999 The Phantom Menace. The story follows a Jedi Master as he investigates various crimes that lead him to a former Padawan student and other dark forces. In addition to Jacinto, the ensemble cast included Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo and Carrie-Anne Moss.

“The Acolyte” was abruptly canceled

Shortly after the first episode aired on Disney+ on June 4th, The Acolyte fell victim to review bombardment by a small group of toxic fans who also criticized it bound goods. After the end of the eight-episode first season, the series was canceled due to low viewership. In contrast, people who liked the series demanded a second season and even created the hashtag #RenewTheAcolyte, which quickly trended on social media.

The Acolyte’s rejection explained

Fans were devastated to learn that Star War: The Acolyte was canceled after one season, but given Disney’s end goal, it might make more sense.

Headland has previously spoken about Yoda’s appearance in the series and confirmed that Darth Plagueis would have played a larger role in future episodes. ““Plagueis” was always in the script and was always intended as a tease for a second season.she explained. “So I was in prep and I was literally thinking about the shot that you see of Vernestra coming in and seeing him.”

She also explained why Yoda was only on screen for a brief moment rather than a full scene. “I knew I didn’t want to have a scene with Yoda. I thought this wasn’t something I would get involved in. When I saw him in person, I’ve never been so impressed in my life.”” added Headland. “I felt like I saw my whole life flashing before my eyes. I felt like I was meeting a being, not a puppet, but a being.
