The Angels are reportedly looking to make another blockbuster move on offense

The Los Angeles Angels have been an aggressive club this offseason, but there is speculation that some moves still need to be made.

At the end of the 2024 season, general manager Perry Minasian urged fans not to give up hope as big changes are coming this winter. So far, Minasian has already added a handful of position players and pitchers to the roster.

According to MLB insider Robert Murray, Minasian isn’t done making moves yet. There are reports that the Angels are still working on improving both the pitching staff and the lineup.

“(The Angels) are looking for bullpen help,” Murray said. “They’re looking for more offensive reinforcements.” Specifically, another power hitter, in addition to Jorge Soler, as GM Perry Minasian told me in the GM meetings.”

The search for another power hitter to join new addition Jorge Soler in the lineup was reiterated by Jon Heyman via Bleacher Report.

“I heard they were looking for a left-handed hitter and hitter,” Heyman said.

Several new free agents in Anaheim have one thing in common: They are all from Southern California. Minasian said it was a deliberate tactic to sign local players.

“This is a great place,” Minasian said. “There are a lot of players who would like to be here. And that says a lot about the area in Southern California and how beautiful it is. Says a lot about our fan base. And opposing players love playing here. It says a lot about the organization as a whole.”

After the Angels finished another losing season with a 63-99 record, Minasian understood that the fan base desperately wanted immediate change. One of his solutions was to sign players who love the West Coast.

Kevin Newman, Travis d’Arnaud and Kyle Hendricks moved back to Southern California as the Angels looked for players who enjoyed playing in the area. The latest reports suggest that the Angels are still trying to make moves, particularly to strengthen their bullpen and lineup.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Minasian tried to recruit a reliever and power hitter who had ties to the area. Regardless, it appears that there are still changes coming for the Angels this winter.
